Composition
Each uncoated bolus contains: Sulphamethoxazole IP 1250 mg Trimethoprim IP 250 mg
Properties
The effective broad-spectrum antibiotic combination belonging to the sulphonamide and diaminopyrimidine group. It exerts synergistic bacteriostatic action by sequentially blocking two steps in the folic acid synthesis pathway of bacteria. Characterised by excellent activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria with superior absorption and distribution in tissues.
Indications
Drug of choice for the treatment of bacterial infections such as salmonellosis, bacterial pneumonia, respiratory tract infections, enteric infections and other systemic bacterial diseases in calves, lambs, kids, foals, pigs and large animals.
Dosage
Calves, Lambs, Kids, Foals, Pigs: Orally 1 bolus per 40 kg body weight (30 mg activity/kg body weight) daily until two days after the symptoms are resolved. (In cases of salmonellosis and bacterial pneumonia, treatment should be continued for five consecutive days). Large Animals: 4 Bolus daily. Small Animals: ½–1 Bolus daily. Or as directed by the veterinarian.
